Eric Staal wurde im Jahre
2003 von den Carolina Hurricanes als 2nd Overall in der ersten Runde
gedraftet. Der Center gilt als enormes Talent und man sagt ihm eine grosse
Zukunft voraus. Eric glänzt vorallem durch seine Vorbereiter und Führungs
Fähigkeiten, so wird es wohl nicht überraschen wenn er eines Tages das
Captain Amt der Canes übernehmen wird. Die NHLFS Toronto Maple Leafs
sicherten sich die Dienste von Staal in einem Trade mit den Vancouver
Canucks und sendeten einen 1st Round Pick, einen 4th Round Pick und Pierre
Dagenais nach Vancouver. 2006 gewann Eric Staal mit den Carolina Hurricanes
den Stanley Cup und war bester Scorer in den Playoffs.
